Shopping With regard to Super King-Size Bedding

Super king size beds

If you have read my post about king size bedding, you know that I am a fan of larger mattresses and the better sleeping experience that they can provide. Well, the actual super king-size bed is actually type of the best expression of the concept, also it should come as no surprise that i am a fan of them as well. They can be an especially great option if you and your significant other have small children or animals that like to join you in the bed. The more room you have the better when it comes to getting a good night's sleep, and super king size beds provide 'room' in spades.

However great the sleeping experience may be in a super king size though, you can expect to run into the same problem we discussed with finding standard king size, but to a larger degree. As mentioned earlier, sheets are available these days in just about any pattern, color, and material that you can imagine. But, unlike any other size, this is not always the case with super king size bedding. The fact remains that this size simply is not mainstream, and for a number of reasons. Primarily, these beds are just too big for most households. Outside from the modern, cookie-cutter mansions which exist within suburbia, homes for the most part haven't been built with the massive master sleeping rooms that we see today. This cuts off a huge chunk of the addressable market for most mattresses, and puts these out of consideration for most families. Obviously, the other main reason that these are not terribly common is price. As I'm sure you know, larger mattresses require more labor, material, shipping expense, etc. to produce and sell. These costs must be passed along to the consumer, and therefore super king sizes are at the outer limit of price. For most, a regular king size is more than sufficient, and it is easy to justify not paying more for the super... fair enough.

If you're hear though, you've got the space, and you've got the dough for a super king size, but it's no good without sheets. We're going to talk about a few things to look at when you're shopping for bedding.

A good set of sheets and bedding is a serious expenditure, and a bit of a long term investment, especially with a bed this large. For that reason, you're going to want to make sure that you take the time to make a well-reasoned and intelligent choice. To begin with, you'll need to be aware that not everything you find that you like is going to be available in super king. Know that going in, and you're less likely to become frustrated while you shop. And keep in mind that there are always workarounds - you may find a pattern you like that is not available in the fabric you like. You may find a material you want, but can't get it in a pattern that will look good with the rest of your furniture. Don't give up. This is the cross that king size bedding shoppers must bear. It may be that you have to have the sheets custom made, or it could be that you have to talk to a buyer to get what you want custom ordered. Often these options can be a good thing as it should help insure that you get exactly what you want.

So, what do you have to think about? Well, thread count, as discussed in the king size bedding post, is even more of a concern. With more space, comes an increased likelihood that the sheets will be stretched and pulled, and generally tested to a greater degree in terms of their durability. Looking at thread count is the best precaution you can take against sheets that wear out too soon and force you back into the store to hunt for replacements. As mentioned, you can go as low as 80 or so, but this is far from recommended. When you're looking for sheets of this size, I would recommend 400 as a minimum thread count for your list of requirements.
